10 rules of composition

#4 keep it simple
I chose to take a picture of my Alex and Ani bracelet that I wear everyday. I am an early childhood education major and wear this bracelet with an apple on it. It is ancient gold and I really liked it up against the light wooden background. I app stacked and used snap seed and ps express.

#2 cropping
I took this picture as I was leaving the airport. We were stopped in traffic and I was able to snap the shot. I cropped the picture and made the focus more on the monuments and less on the trees and the grass. I still liked the color of the grass and how it popped so I left a little bit of green.

#1 impact
I chose this photo as one that is impacting because even though most of the foreground is dark.. The sky almost illuminates the basilica in a way where you are putting all your attention on the dome of the basilica.

#9 avoid mergers
I took a picture of my roommate as she was leaving our room for the day. I used a white background and did not use any extra objects. Her bag and scarf brought out the color so all I did was add a little color in the background to almost look like a vignette.

#8 use of framing
This is a picture from the headless portrait. We took a picture in the frame way of the church. It was an archway that connects the church and the dorm. You focus on me but you see the white frame surrounding me as well.

#3 biggest, boldest, favorable place
This picture was taken when we hiked one of the trails at skyline drive at the Shenendoah National Park. I chose this as my biggest and boldest because Rob is standing on the top of a mountain but since he is spreading his arms out and is right in the center I feel that he is placed favorably and instead of looking at the beautiful background you are focused on him.

#10 room for logical movement
My roommate is in the middle of leaping into the air. She is using this space for her leap and is preparing for her jump.

#6 leading lines
The lines from the sidewalk to the lines on the wooden canapy, they all lead to the smaller arch way at the very end.

#5 rule of thirds
This is the basilica. I stepped back and made the basilica be in the top of the portrait and let the side walk and trees and benches and lights be in the bottom of the picture.

#7 balance
I came across these before I got in the shower. I forgot they were in our bathroom. They are two wine bottles with yellow flowers in each one. They sit symmetrical to one another and are balanced and sitting in front of our window.
